Lackawanna Trail Reaches Agreement With Marywood for Social Work Services
Pennsylvania students in the Lackawanna Trail School District will have more opportunities to connect with social workers should they need to during this upcoming school year.
At a Lackawanna Trail School Board meeting on August 11, the board approved a memorandum of understanding between the district and Marywood University for the placement of social work students in the district for the 2025-26 school year. The social work students will work with the guidance department to help students who may need attention as Lackawanna Trail continues to give increased awareness to student’s mental health needs.
“This is a win-win opportunity for both Lackawanna Trail and Marywood,” says Superintendent Matt Rakauskas. “We knew there was a need in this area to help our guidance department, and it gives the college students work experience in this field. The district is going to benefit greatly from this partnership.”
The board also approved a contract with Standing Stone Consulting and Security for school resource officer services for the 2025-26 and 2026-27 school years, and signed a memorandum of understanding between the district and law enforcement authorities for the next two school years.
